Bio

Mr. Grayson Lawrence is the Director of Bands and Winterboro High School in Talladega County where he teaches Beginning Band, Junior High Band, and High School Band. Mr. Lawrence completed his Bachelors and Masters of Arts in Music Education at Jacksonville State University. While at Jacksonville State, Mr. Lawrence served as a Drum Major for the Jacksonville State Marching Southerners and Spirit Drum and Bugle Corps. He was also a member of the JSU Chamber Winds, Wind Ensemble, Pit Orchestra, and several Brass and Woodwind Quintets. His primary teachers include Mr. Jeff Solomon, Dr. Kenneth Bodiford, Dr. Wendy Faugh, and Dr. Tony Logsdon. Mr. Lawrence is an active adjudicator for drum majors throughout North East Alabama and enjoys playing horn seasonally for area churches. His professional organizations are the Talladega Band Directors Association, Alabama Bandmasters Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Alabama Educators Association, and The National Association for Music Education. He is also a member of the Jacksonville First United Methodist Church where he serves as a member of the Chancel Choir and Fay Ann Handbell Choir. Mr. Lawrence has been the conductor for The East Alabama Beginning Band Honor Band, and most recently the Calhoun Country Honor Band. He was the 2011-2012 recipient Winterboro High School teacher of the year. Mr. Lawrence resides in Jacksonville. His greatest passion is to enter the classroom everyday to rehearse and perform beautiful music. Teaching his students the love and enjoyment of music is what he lives for on a daily basis. He would like to thank his family and friends for all the opportunities God has blessed him with so far.
