Winterboro opened their 2012 baseball season Saturday at Faith Christian with a pair of wins. Winterboro won the first of two games by a 3-0. Senior Josh Quinn led the way pitching five scoreless innings and striking out 13 without giving up a hit. Freshman Casey Goins provided a spark at the plate going 2 for 2 with an RBI double that put the game out of reach.
Winterboro won the second game 17-5. Junior third baseman Cody Rhodes went 3 for 4 at the plate, and senior Josh Struzik went 2 for 5 with a home run. Sophomore Andrew Pitts earned the win, scattering eight hits over six solid innings of work. The Bulldogs are 2-0 on the season and travel to face B.B. Comer on Friday at 4:30.
